Equilibrium Horse Center invites your children to our Horse Camps— a delightful time spent with horses and 80+ acres of open spaces. Your children will adventure into the wonderful world of horses, guided by knowledgeable counselors and in the company of great friends: other horse-loving kids ages 6 to 16.
Equilibrium’s summer camps and school break camps offer intensive, hands-on instruction in horsemanship and the science of equine management.
Summer Camper Programs
Campers will be put into small groups according to their experience and riding ability.
BEGINNING & INTERMEDIATE RIDERS will focus on gaining technical skills and confidence, and learning basic horse care.
ADVANCED RIDERS who can walk, trot, and canter while maintaining control of the horse will expand knowledge of horse care and develop more advanced riding skills, which may include dressage tests, hunter courses, and cross-country riding.
FARM CAMP is our non-riding program for children ages 11-14 interested in learning all about horses, life on a farm, and the surrounding wildlife. Children will learn all about horse care and horse handling with no actual riding.
CIT CAMP is for youth ages 14 to 17 interested in becoming a camp counselor. Campers will assist instructors in setting up lessons and running fun activities for the other camp groups. They will learn some fundamentals of teaching horsemanship and riding. They will have two lessons per session, concentrating on refining their horsemanship skills. Seventeen year-old CIT camp graduates may receive an invitation to partake in a paid internship their next summer. Participants receive a certificate of completion. Letter of recommendation from riding instructor required.

School Break Camp
Equilibrium’s day camps are available for all school breaks during the school year. The rate is $100/day, and payment is required on the day of the session. Sessions are available for all school breaks. If your child’s school closing isn’t listed on our registration form, simply fill in the date(s) and we will accommodate your schedule. Camp hours are 8-4 pm; before and after care is available at no additional charge.
Equipment
All campers will need a Government-approved riding or sports helmet with a harness. Children will also need hard-soled, enclosed shoes with a heel. Campers will be most comfortable in suitable riding pants (breeches, jodphurs, sweat pants, or loose-fitting long pants) and cooler wear for unmounted activities. (Remember, we may get all wet and dirty, which is what kids do really well.)Other items campers should bring daily are a small notebook, pencil, and sunscreen.
Camp Fees and Hours
Beginning & Intermediate and Advanced Camp sessions are $400/week. Farm Camp is $200/week and CIT Camp is $275/week. A $100 non-refundable deposit is required upon registration for each camp week selected. The balance for each week is due on the first day of the camp session.
Equilibrium's summer camp sessions run weekly Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 4 pm, for 12 weeks starting in June. Before and after care is available at no extra charge — arrangements must be made in advance through the camp director.
